Service Project - June 13 - Giving Farm Service Project9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us as we begin the Fall planting season! We will be planting Fall Crops at the Giving Farm. This could include Watermelon, Butternut Squash, & Acorn Squash. Not only do we get to plant but we are welcome to say hi to all the pigs and sheep!
Volunteers will be working on an 8-acre farm supporting the day-to-day operations such as planting, weeding, and harvesting to help in providing approximately 200,000 pounds of produce annually to our community members most in need. Work will consist of repetitive manual labor such as kneeling down to plant transplants and bending over to remove unwanted plant debris. Materials will be provided.
Volunteers must be free of any common flu symptoms, i.e. fever or cough.
Dress Code: You will be working on a farm, wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Closed toe-shoes (work boots or hiking boots preferred). Thick long pants and long-sleeved shirts preferred. Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen).
